Choose the correct academy gateway
Ryanair's published academy information describes ab-initio and Gateway 1 selection through partner schools, including online psychometric or aptitude assessment and a one-day assessment covering maths, physics, English where relevant, group exercise and interview. Routes depend on the candidate's previous training.
The partner school is central to the application and assessment arrangements. Check its own instructions as well as the Ryanair programme page.
A licensed-cadet assessment is a separate route
Ryanair's licensed-cadet recruitment page describes simulator, technical and HR assessment. This is not the same starting point as an applicant entering ab-initio training. Advanced airline simulator preparation is not a substitute for the maths, physics and aptitude foundations of a beginner route.
Confirm the school and gateway
The public academy page does not establish one identical assessment provider, item set or score threshold for every partner school. Its selection paragraph refers to Gateway 3 while its route list uses 0, 1 and 2. Confirm the route and instructions with your named partner school. If you already hold a licence, use the requirements for the licensed vacancy instead.
Give your preparation a structure
Start with the free test and review the explanations for errors. Choose one skill for a focused session, practise without time pressure until you understand the method, then add a timer. Keep a short record of errors caused by calculation, misreading, recall or time pressure.
Use assessment-day practice to work on sustained attention and task switching after the individual skills feel familiar. Review accuracy and pace separately. FlightDeck's original tasks provide practice feedback; the programme's own familiarisation should guide your understanding of its assessment.
